Mokrovraty: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A distinctive piece of local history lies in the Kocába Valley: Plechhamer Mill was built in 1707 in the picturesque valley of the Kocába River near the former settlement of Pustiny, which was later renamed Pouště.

History and Historical Traces

The Chapel of St. John the Baptist is located in Mokrovraty, Pouště. The Plechhamerský double pond was also located near Plechhamer Mill; it disappeared in 1941.

The historic landscape also includes the former Královská stolice hunting enclosure, which extended as far as Mokrovraty. Remains of the pillars of the original enclosure, dating from 1766, have survived to this day. The central pavilion of the former enclosure, which was made of birch trunks, has since been restored in a different form.

Nature and Trails

A marked hiking trail passes through Mokrovraty. The regional biocentres Holcovská and Kazatelna extend into the Pouště district of Mokrovraty. Dense forests lie near the village, offering opportunities for active recreation as well as for gathering mushrooms and other wild forest fruits.

Transport

Mokrovraty station is located on the single-track branch line Praha-Vršovice–Praha-Bráník–Měchenice–Dobříš. Mokrovraty has bus stops on road II/114; public transport is provided by buses and supplemented by rail services.

A Special Historical Discovery

The remains of the furnace are located at the summit of a 393 m-high, isolated hill halfway between Mokrovraty railway station and Dolní Tušimský Pond. The remains of this furnace are considered to be the only ones in the wider surrounding area.
