Záboří nad Labem lies near the confluence of the Doubrava and the Elbe.

The protected natural monument of Lžovické tůně is also located in the cadastral area of Záboří nad Labem. It protects fragments of the Elbe floodplain ecosystems: hard- and softwood floodplain forests, pools with aquatic vegetation, tall-herb wetlands, wet alder stands and wet willow stands.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Procopius in Záboří nad Labem dates from approximately the mid-12th century and has an unusual architectural form: a wide, short nave, a square presbytery with a central tower, and a sacristy with an oratory on the upper floor.

The complex of the Church of Saint Procopius in Záboří nad Labem is a protected cultural monument and includes the vicarage, outbuildings, a wooden bell tower, the enclosing wall, and the remains of the cemetery with old graves. The bell tower stands north of the church. The Baroque Marian column stands on the village green next to the church; it was erected in 1739.

Záboří nad Labem is one of the oldest settlements in the wider area. The village was held by a monastery from 1301; the first written mention of Záboří nad Labem dates from 1338. On 1 September 1845, the first train arrived in Záboří nad Labem.
