Dobrovítov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dobrovítov showcases its history at specific sites and combines it with a forest-rich landscape at the foot of the Železné hory. The Church of St. Wenceslas in Dobrovítov is first mentioned in a church register from 1350, during the reign of Charles IV. The small windows in the church tower are probably interpreted as former loopholes, suggesting that the tower served a defensive function.

Culture and History

Dobrovítov’s archaeological cultural heritage includes a hill with buried cellars east of the Church of St. Wenceslas, considered to be the site of the original fortress. The village’s Jewish history can also be read in a preserved historical context: a synagogue was established in a former granary, where Jews from the surrounding communities gathered for worship on Saturdays and holidays. The former synagogue remained in use until 1924 and was subsequently converted into summer apartments.

Nature and Landscape

Dobrovítov lies at the foot of the Železné hory, surrounded by beautiful, healthy forests. A distinctive natural area is located southeast of the village: the Jánský potok Nature Monument lies 1 km southeast of Dobrovítov and runs through a shallow, wooded valley, where it feeds a shallow, partially silted pond. The nature monument protects aquatic and meadow ecosystems with significant and specially protected plant and animal species, in particular a population of minnows.

The immediate surroundings include the hill of Občiny [Dobrovítov-Dědice] and the hill of Na Skále [Zbýšov-Krchlebská Lhota]; both are located near Dobrovítov. Mount Ostojovka [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř] lies in the vicinity of Dobrovítov. The wider regional area also includes Mount Melechov, Kačina Chateau and the ruins of Orlík.

Getting Around Dobrovítov

In the settlements, public bus stops are no more than a four-minute walk away, corresponding to a walking distance or radius of 350 m. No marked hiking or cycling route passes through the Dobrovítov planning area. The relatively low intensity of motorised road traffic, together with existing roads and agricultural and forest tracks, supports both short trips and relaxing bike rides.
