Vrbová Lhota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The history of Vrbová Lhota includes buildings and archaeological traces. The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas dates back to the 19th century and is one of Vrbová Lhota’s cultural monuments. The Art Nouveau school building is also one of the village’s cultural monuments.

Culture and History

Archaeological work in the area between Radim, Pečky, Vrbová Lhota, Sokolče and as far as Poděbrady uncovered stone tools indicating settlement at least since the Neolithic period. A written reference to Vrbová Lhota is documented for the year 1535.

Three gold coins are represented among the finds from the Vrbová Lhota site; their occurrence has no known parallel in Central Bohemia to date. The site is also characterised by an unusually high proportion of metal-casting activities. In the vicinity of Vrbová Lhota, there are individual finds from the Roman period as well as individual finds associated with a later Slavic settlement.

A historical reference also leads into the village’s history: in 1502, beer from Poděbrady was supposed to be delivered to the Lhota then known as “Wrbová”.

Landscape

Extensive gravel-sand and drifting-sand deposits are located north and northwest of Vrbová Lhota. To the east, south and partly west of the village lie heavy soils that correspond to marsh-like conditions in many places. The historic Březenský pond was supplied with water from the Výrovka River.

Cycling Routes

Cycle route No. 0125 connects Vrbová Lhota with Kouřim. Route 0126 connects Vrbová Lhota with Miškovice.
