Slapanov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the northern edge of Šlapánov stands the branch church of St Peter and Paul. It was built before 1258 and is one of the excursion destinations in the vicinity of Zvěstov.

Culture and History

The church was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1733, extended with a prismatic tower in 1873 and restored in 1889. It has a rectangular nave and a square chancel with a semicircular apse. The chancel contains an original ribbed vault with undecorated brick ribs.

The settlement centre of Šlapánov has been documented since 1318. Šlapánov Fortress was recorded in 1548 as deserted or abandoned; to date, no above-ground remains of it have been identified.

The Chapel of St Wenceslas probably dates from the 18th century. It formerly contained images of St Joseph and St Anne.

Pilgrimage Route and Landscape

The 76-kilometre fourth stage of the Říp–Blaník pilgrimage route runs between Odlochovice, Šlapánov and Roudný. Within Šlapánov, the pilgrimage route passes the Church of St Peter and Paul and leaves the village between ponds.

A blue-marked hiking trail leads from Šlapánov beyond the valley and offers extensive views of the landscape west of the Blaník ridges. Šlapánov is located about one kilometre from Zvěstov. On the way from Šlapánov, you reach the boundary of the Blaník Protected Landscape Area, which was designated in 1981.
