Nový Vestec: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Nový Vestec was rebuilt in 1777 northeast of the former settlement of Vesce. The village’s history also includes the municipal bell and its connection to the composer Foerster.

History and culture

The municipal bell of Nový Vestec is made from a piece of wood from a hundred-year-old oak tree. It bears the year 1837, when the 25-kilogram bell was hung.

The composer Foerster spent the last three years of his life in Nový Vestec. He also wrote his final work there, the “Vestecký kvartet”.

Nature

The protected natural monument Černý Orel lies in the forest above Nový Vestec. It protects a natural oak forest typical of the Elbe Lowland, situated on gravelly-sandy terraces of the Jizera and Labe rivers.

The protected area includes continental dune grasslands, extensively mown lowland to hilly-country meadows, oak-hornbeam forests, and old acidic oak forests. Černý Orel also encompasses a habitat of the dusky large blue butterfly.

History and experiences

The Naučná stezka Krajinou Rudolfa II educational trail explores history and nature. The bridge between Nový Vestec and Káraný was built in 1936 and reconstructed in 1994.

Bouda Jizerka was built for summer visitors as a summer restaurant with a dance floor and as a sunbathing facility on the banks of the Jizera.
