Sudovo Hlavno: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The landscape in the cadastral area of Sudovo Hlavno lies at the easternmost extension of the Polabian Plain. To the north, the plain is bordered by the Dlouhý běh forest, while the Cecemín ridge is a significant landscape feature in the Sudovo Hlavno area. The well-known recreational area around the lakes of Lhota, Ovčáry and Konětopy is also located near the village. The only road, III/2752, runs through the Sudovo Hlavno area and leads from the Motorest U Čtyř kamenů via Hlavenec to Kostelní Hlavno, Mečeříž and Chotětov.

Landscape and educational trail

Since 2013, the educational trail Naučná stezka vladyky Sudy has led through the landscape around Hlavno. One of the trail's information panels is located at U Písečáku. From Sudovo Hlavno, it can be reached by heading towards Dřísy and turning onto an asphalt road about 100 metres after the village.

History and traditions

The village square is home to the bell tower Zvonička s obecní váhou, which was built in 1905. At the end of 2007, it was restored based on a historical photograph; the doors and windows were replaced in the process. The first written record of the village of Sudovo Hlavno dates from 1386.

Traditional annual customs in Sudovo Hlavno include Masopust, which is attended by locals and visitors from elsewhere. Easter traditions include řehtání, the whipping of unmarried girls with willow switches by the jidáši, and Monday Hodování. As part of the project Naše Hlavno, it was agreed that children would learn to braid a Pomlázka.

Events

Turnaj o Sudův pohár is a family event featuring a historical battle between several teams. The Novoroční běh is one of the public events held in Hlavno throughout the year and is attended by locals and visitors from elsewhere.
