The name Podolanka was first mentioned in 1658 in connection with an inn located in a valley near Jenštejn. It probably relates to the local landscape, a narrow valley through which a stream flows.
Culture and History
The history of today’s municipality of Podolanka encompasses the history of the three formerly independent neighboring municipalities of Cvrčovice, Kostomlátky, and Podolanka. In Cvrčovice, the listed church complex of Stětí sv. Jana Křtitele includes a Baroque entrance gate, a mortuary, an enclosing wall, and several cemetery gravestones.
The Podolanka memorial to those who fell in the First World War commemorates seventeen citizens of the municipality and was unveiled on 29 May 1921. There are also two niche chapels in Podolanka along state road II/610, built before 1680. They belong to the so-called Svatá cesta (VIA SANCTA), which leads from Prague to Stará Boleslav.
Routes and Places
Cycle Route 8196 runs through Podolanka and connects Podolanka with Brandýs nad Labem. At Rybník Jordánek, there is an information board with information ranging from the beginnings to the present day, as well as fishing regulations.
Niche Chapel XXX is located on a road on the western side of Podolanka. Niche Chapel XXXII is located on the northern side of the Podolanka–Dřevčice road, along the road toward Podolanka.
