Culture and history

The Church of St. Martin in Kostelní Střimelice is listed as a protected cultural monument. The church contains a Baroque high altar from the first quarter of the 18th century, which was moved here from the Church of Na Zderaze in Prague in 1789, as well as a wooden pulpit dating from 1707.

The former fortress of Kostelní Střimelice was first documented in writing in 1359; its site still forms a distinctive spur at an elevation of 450 m. Copper mining near Kostelní Střimelice, formerly Horní Střimelice, and Hradové Střimelice, formerly Dolní Střimelice, began in the early 1540s.

Kostelní Střimelice is situated in a prominent location on the slopes of the 542 m high Pecný hill. Nearby is Na Marjánce (Zvánovice), a hill. Trails

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Kostelní Střimelice and continues to the signpost near Chlum. Official cycling route 4/C runs through Kostelní Střimelice and is an approximately 30 km circular route starting from Sázava.
