Kosořice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Kosořice, the centre, through which the Vlkava flows, is connected with reminders of several centuries of history. A chapel stands on the village square, with a memorial plaque commemorating those who fell in the First World War and a bust of T. G. Masaryk.

Culture

The listed statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands at the bridge over the Vlkava. It dates from 1794 and was restored in 1949, 1997 and 2021. The statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, created in 1883, also dates from the 19th century.

The cross at the bridge dates from 1867. The inhabitants of Kosořice erected it after the 1866 war and a devastating cholera epidemic. Another cross at Štěpánových was commissioned by the Štěpán family; their farmstead had stood there since the end of the 18th century. Later, under Countess Eleonora von Valdštejna, the farmstead was given a new Baroque appearance.

The former fortress is also part of the village's history: its remains were already lost in the 18th century. Today, it is assumed that it stood at a farmyard near Močický rybník.

Nature and Trails

The municipality of Kosořice landscaped the green areas on the embankment of Kosořický rybník and in its surroundings. The area near the municipality offers a pleasant setting for recreation. No marked KČT hiking trail passes through Kosořice.

Traditions

The recurring Kosořice event “Pálení čarodějnic” takes place on the last day of April in the forest park at the sports ground near the pond. During the celebration, a children's lantern procession goes from the fire station to the large bonfire. Traditional competitions for small children and roasting sausages are also part of the event.
