Kluky is laid out as a linear village running from east to west. In the centre of the village, on the widening village green, stands the Church of St John the Baptist – a defining focal point of the village with a multifaceted architectural and historical setting.

Village Character and Architectural Heritage

The church grounds of the Church of St John the Baptist in Kluky include a bell tower, a mortuary, a boundary wall with a gate, and statues of St John of Nepomuk and St Florian. The church was originally a Gothic building from the second quarter of the 14th century and was altered in the 18th century. Its rectangular nave, polygonal chancel and small roof turret define its external appearance.

Today, the Church of St John the Baptist is a subsidiary church; formerly, it was the parish church of the Roman Catholic parish of Bykáň.

Kluky Chateau also bears witness to several phases of construction. It stands on the site of a Gothic fortress from the 17th century and features structural alterations from the 18th century. Under the Dačický z Heslova family, it was extensively remodelled into a Neo-Renaissance villa between 1880 and 1890. Kluky Chateau is fenced off and not accessible to the public.

A traditional rural house in Kluky is a single-storey building made of unfired bricks, with a projecting gable clad in wooden boards and a gabled roof with hipped ends. A Baroque sandstone statue of St John of Nepomuk stands in a small park by the roadside in Kluky; it dates from the second half of the 18th century and has been a cultural monument since 1966.

Kačina Chateau is located in the vicinity of Kluky. The Zadní kupa hill [Církvice-Jakub] is also located near Kluky. In the wider regional area are Krkanka, Hořánck and Ostojovka mountains [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř].

Transport

Bus route 705 operates between Čáslav, Kutná Hora, Kolín and Poděbrady, and back.
