History

In the earliest documented period, Onomyšl belonged to the estates of the Archbishopric of Prague. In 1436, Emperor Sigismund pledged Onomyšl as security for his debts. The two historical references represent different levels of the village’s history: an early ecclesiastical affiliation and a specific political event from the 15th century.

Culture

The architectural history is particularly vividly illustrated by individual buildings. House No. 1 was remodelled during the First Republic and features incised hard-plaster motifs depicting a plough, a sickle and grain. The motifs connect the design of the house with clearly recognisable agricultural symbols.

Houses Nos. 14 and 15 were originally a single farmstead. The farmstead at House No. 10 was carefully restored to its original appearance. Both examples show different forms of rural built heritage, without their history having to be reduced to the same development.
