In Hostín u Vojkovic, a parish church with Romanesque and Early Gothic origins, a Baroque cemetery chapel, and a natural body of water on the northern edge of the village come together. Architectural history and open river landscape thus shape the distinctive features of the village.

Culture and History

The parish church “Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie” is a Romanesque and Early Gothic sacred building. After 1615, it was partially remodelled in the Renaissance style and transformed in the Baroque style in the 18th century. A Gothic southern portal and an Early Gothic presbytery have been preserved. The church was already mentioned as a parish church in 1290; its first mention dates from 1320.

The cemetery chapel “Kaple Božího těla” was built from 1735 to 1736 in the Baroque style under the direction of the Italian Jeroným Costa. Its original circular ground plan has an internal diameter of 12 m and an external diameter of 17 m.
