Vidim: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The historic centre of Vidim is protected as a village monument zone. At the same time, Vidim preserves a traditional settlement structure with characteristic features of linear development.

Culture and townscape

The Church of Saint Martin is located in the northern part of Vidim, opposite the chateau complex. The present pseudo-Gothic Church of Saint Martin dates from 1878; its enclosure contains 14 niche chapels forming a Stations of the Cross.

The Vidimský zámek complex is protected as an immovable cultural monument. It includes an extensive chateau garden, and the complex also features a rich collection of sculptures.

Starý zámek is a ruin and an archaeologically documented rock castle site dating from the 14th to the 15th century, preserved through traces in the terrain.

Landscape

The Vidim area lies within the Kokořínsko–Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area. There is a dense network of marked hiking trails; some lead through challenging terrain and over rocks that must be negotiated with the aid of chains.

Shopping options for drinks and snacks are limited in the Kokořínsko–Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area; sturdy footwear and sufficient drinking water are recommended.

Things to do

Climbing in Vidimský důl is permitted year-round within designated polygons. Route 3091 Mšeno–Vyhlídky–Horní Vidim reaches Horní Vidim at 18.5 km.

The Vidimské lávky make it possible to take a walk among the sandstone rocks near Vidim. They run along the edges of ravines via steps, cuts and passages carved into the sandstone, which bridge the ravines.

Many of the Vidimské lávky are in poor condition and have missing railings; sturdy footwear is recommended for the walk.
