Vojkovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Vojkovice is located in the old settlement landscape of the Czech Elbe lowlands, which has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic period. The original village centre around the village green has been well preserved to this day.

Culture and history

The first written mention of the village of Vojkovice as “villa Voykouici” dates back to 1088. At that time, King Vratislav II donated the village to the newly established Vyšehrad Chapter. Large agricultural farmsteads stand in the north of the historic village centre, while smaller buildings can be found in the south, probably shaped by the parcelling carried out during the Raabisation in the 18th century.

Landscape

Vojkovice is situated on fertile gravel-sand terraces in the lower Vltava region. The municipality extends southwards from the Dřínovský vrch massif to the Vltava river in the north. The Kozárovický potok, a remnant of the Vltava’s original river course, flows through the village. Road II/101 also passes through Vojkovice.

The Vejčina hill [Dolní Beřkovice] and the Na Vrších hill [Cítov] are located in the surroundings of Vojkovice. Mount Nedvězí [Dubá-Dražejov] and the island of Velké Benátky are located in the wider regional surroundings of Vojkovice.

Cultural attractions in the surrounding area

Zámek Ostrov Castle is located in the immediate surroundings of Vojkovice. In the wider regional surroundings are the Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč Museum, Letohrádek královny Anny Castle and the Galerie Rudolfinum Museum.

By bicycle

Cycle Route No. 2 runs through Vojkovice from Kralupy nad Vltavou via Nelahozeves and Mělník to Ústí nad Labem.
