Dolní Zimoř: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dolní Zimoř lies in a narrow valley of the Želízská svodnice. In terms of landscape, the municipality belongs to the Kokořínsko area and the Kokořín and Mšeno landscape region. This region is characterized by gorge-like valleys with sandstone rocks weathered to varying degrees, wooded slopes, and meadows on the valley floors.

Nature and Landscape

On the northern side of the Zimořský důl, a rocky section is protected as the Želízky Nature Monument. The nature monument preserves a heat-favoured habitat along the rock edges with rare and endangered plant and animal communities, including the leafless iris (Iris aphylla) and the meadow pasque flower (Pulsatilla pratensis).

The Zimořský důl and the adjacent slopes belong to particularly valuable areas within the Natura 2000 network and to the Kokořínsko biotope.

Folk Architecture and Community Life

Dolní Zimoř is part of the Kokořínsko folk architecture region. Some buildings in Dolní Zimoř have preserved their original, distinctive character, particularly in Horní Zimoř and south of the road to Želízy.

Community events held in Dolní Zimoř include a summer gathering at the sports field.

Trails and Settlement Location

Dolní Zimoř is located away from the main traffic routes; only three Class III roads pass through the municipal area. A hiking trail to Sitné and Vidim branches off from the shared hiking and cycling route between Želízy and Kokořín. A cycle path to Vysoká also leads from the same route.

For short walks around Dolní Zimoř, the trail in the Zimořský důl is particularly popular. A footpath runs along the road to Želízy; the route between Dolní Zimoř and Horní Zimoř is described as suitable and largely barrier-free.

Access and Parking

Access to the Želízky Nature Monument leads through trackless terrain; the site is more than 250 metres from the road. Approximately eight visitor parking spaces are located in front of the municipal office.
