Kokorinsky Dul: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Kokořínský Důl is characterized by a gorge-like valley through which the Pšovka stream flows. The Kokořínský Důl Nature Reserve was designated in 1953. A distinctive landscape feature is the Kokořínské Pokličky: rock towers made of medium- to coarse-grained sandstones of the Jizera Suite, covered by a resistant layer of iron-bearing sandstone to conglomerate. They were formed by the selective weathering of the sandstones. Some of these rock formations reach heights of up to 12 metres.

Nature

From the starting point of the Kokořínské Pokličky, a short climb up wooden steps leads to a viewpoint. In this way, the geological character of the rock towers complements the valley landscape with a clearly designated viewpoint.

Trails

The red-marked Máchova stezka runs along the entire length of Kokořínský Důl. Other marked hiking trails cross or meet the Máchova stezka in Kokořínský Důl.

The Kokořínský důl educational trail is approximately 7 kilometres long and includes 10 stations. Most sections of this educational trail are also suitable for cyclists.

The path from the last car park below Kokořín Castle to the castle is just under one kilometre long.

History

Kokořín Castle is located in Kokořínský Důl, in the municipality of Kokořín, in the Central Bohemian Region and the Mělník District. It has been protected as a national cultural monument since 1 January 2002.

The settlement of Kaninský Důl is also part of the area's history: it initially belonged to the municipality of Kokořín and ceased to exist on 1 January 1980.
