Dolní Vidim: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Dolní Vidim is the part of Vidim situated in the valley and primarily focused on recreation. The settlement belongs to the Vidim Village Heritage Conservation Zone, and most of Vidim’s two-storey log and half-timbered houses are located here.

The Settlement and Its Heritage

The distinctive traces of the past include the modest remains of Starý zámek, a rock castle probably founded in the 13th century. A room carved out of the rock, a cistern and beam slots have survived. Carved cellars and rock dwellings can also be found in the sandstone bedrock of Dolní Vidim.

The rock-niche chapel in Dolní Vidim and its surroundings are well maintained; there are places to sit nearby for rest and quiet reflection. The wooden bell tower is operational and in very good technical condition, and its surroundings are also well maintained.

House No. 67 is a two-storey log house with a three-part, two-bay floor plan of the so-called stable type. Its wooden core is dated to 1792. The house is listed in the Central Register of Immovable Monuments.

Culture and Crafts

At the House of Extinct Crafts in Dolní Vidim, House No. 78, Ekocentrum Koniklec offers the “Zaniklá řemesla” programme. It includes practical activities such as bread baking and churning butter.

Routes and Orientation

Cycle route No. 0012 runs through Dolní Vidim, mainly along Class III roads, and connects the settlement with Dobřeň to the east. It runs directly past the rock-niche chapel; Starý zámek is about 50 metres from it and also lies directly on the blue-marked hiking route. The wooden bell tower is likewise located directly on the cycle route and about 300 metres from the blue- and green-marked hiking trails.
