Culture

The protected, valuable ethnological building “Žaničini” is listed in Mihotići at Put Perinovo 18; “Guć” and “Cepovi” are recorded in the village as ethnographic sites. The old settlement centre of Mihotići is designated as a protected unit that characterises the local townscape; special conditions apply to its reconstruction.

According to tradition, the Mihotići mosaic draws on a folk tale about the origin of the settlement’s name. It was created as part of the “Mozaik” art studio project in Matulji by seventh-grade students.

Those travelling from Matulji to the Zvončarska muzejska zbirka take the road towards Učka and turn right at the Mihotići junction towards Rukavac.

Traditions

The Brežani bell-ringers’ route leads from Bregi through Frančići and Mihotići to part of Rukavac, then returns via Mihotići and Frančići. It is around twenty years old and developed from a social gathering into a tradition.

The bell-ringers’ procession of Mučići takes place on Pusna nedjelja. The 18-kilometre procession visits Mihotići as part of its circuit through Kastavština.
