At the Zvončarska Smotra, the bell ringers set off from Štacijon, pass through the centre of Matulji and reach the Amfiteatar. The bell ringers’ parade has been held in Matulji since 1995 and presents the full spectacle of the local bell-ringing customs. The gathering of the bell ringers in Matulji takes place on Carnival Saturday.

Culture

In the municipality of Matulji, a mountain trail follows the scenic ridge of Crni Vrh and begins southwest of the Lisina mountain hut. The summit of Vodičke griže is about a ten-minute walk from the Vodice spring. Lisina Forest Park is connected by an extensive network of forest and tractor roads suitable for hiking and recreation.
In the municipality of Matulji, Lisina provides habitats for dormice, deer, foxes, badgers, hares, martens and numerous forest bird species. The organised tours by Matuljicious Bike & Taste in the Matulji area combine landscapes, cultural heritage and local specialities. Route 117 is 30 kilometres long, has a total elevation gain of 560 metres, passes through Lisina and heads towards the terraces of Zvonejske Njivi. History
The dry-stone terraces of Zvonejske Njivi are located in the municipality of Matulji, near Zvoneća. They were created between the 15th and 17th centuries and cover approximately 60 hectares. In 1994, Zvonejske Njivi were entered in the Register of Protected Cultural Properties. Veli Brgud is a protected and officially registered rural ensemble whose layout reflects the structure of a medieval shepherd settlement. The indigenous grape variety Jarbola is also cultivated in the municipality of Matulji; it has been grown in the Zvoneća area for more than 100 years.
