History

The historic Lokva is located at the entrance to Ivan Dolac. It was established as a watering place for the livestock of former shepherds and farmers from Taja, an older settlement east of the present-day village. A chapel in the old part of Ivan Dolac was built in 1852 in connection with protection against downy mildew.

Character of the Village

Plavac grapes continue to be cultivated in the steep fields of Ivan Dolac. Local producers sell wine, olive oil, and home-grown vegetables in the village.
