Forcall – Muelas, History and Holiday Apartments

Four Muelas surround Forcall, and their landscape invites you to go hiking. The PR-CV 322 Mola de la Vila hiking trail begins at the corner of Carrer III Centenari and Carrer Petra Palos and offers a bird’s-eye view of Forcall and the surrounding Muelas. The Riu Bergantes is designated as a Site of Community Importance.

Culture and Architectural History
The Ermita de la Consolación is a 16th-century chapel on a hill at the entrance to Forcall from the direction of Morella. It can be reached via the CV-124 to Consolacioneta and from there on foot.
The Conjunto de Sant Josep y calvario comprises a hermitage, a garden viewpoint overlooking the Caldes River and a Calvary. The Calvary in this ensemble was built in 1886 to mark the bicentenary of the arrival of the relics of Saint Victor in Forcall.
Forcall has a large Plaza Mayor lined with arcades. The Casa-Palacio de los Miró in Forcall was built in the 16th century. The Casa de les Escaletes in Forcall, also known as the town hall, dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
The original Gothic church of Forcall dates back to the 13th century. The present-day church of Forcall has a Renaissance nave, a simple façade and dates from the 19th century.
Archaeology and Museums
At the Sant Joaquim de la Menarella necropolis, 28 structures and 20 burial deposits were documented, containing a total of 90 people who were buried according to the cremation rite in the 7th and 6th centuries BC. The Sant Joaquim de la Menarella necropolis is located at an important crossroads of routes to Forcall running north–south and to the Sierra de Gúdar running east–west.
Abric del mas de Barberà is listed in Spain under entry 874-345 in the UNESCO World Heritage map. The permanent museographic collection of Forcall mainly displays archaeological material from the Iberian-Roman city of Lesera. The Museo de la Alpargata documents the traditional craft of espadrille making.
Forcall is home to the Centro de Interpretación de la naturaleza del Bergantes. It is also home to the Centro de Interpretación de la Fiesta de San Antonio.
Local Traditions
The Santantonà de Forcall has been celebrated in the municipality since the Middle Ages. It includes traditional customs such as planting the maypole, burning the barraca and the ball rodat.
