Boadilla del Monte: Palace, Gardens and Forest

In the centre of Boadilla del Monte, the historic area of the Palacio del Infante Don Luis occupies a large part of the town. Its surroundings include a birdhouse, gardens, fountains, bridges, kitchen gardens and a park. The Palacio itself is a late Baroque palace in Boadilla del Monte, built in 1765 by Ventura Rodríguez. From 1765 to 1776, it was the residence of Infante Don Luis.

Culture

The Palacio del Infante Don Luis and its associated gardens are protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural. The garden complex has an Italian character and was restored with the original plant species; its parterre contains more than 10,000 boxwood plants. The Antiguo Convento de las Carmelitas Descalzas was founded in 1670. Together with the Palacio del Infante Don Luis, it is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the Conjunto Histórico-Artístico category.

The Sala de Arte de la Ciudad Financiera presents an exhibition from the Banco Santander collection, featuring more than 200 works. The exhibition provides an overview of art history from the 16th century to the present day. The Iglesia de San Cristóbal offers a different historical emphasis: the Mudéjar church dates from the 13th century, has three naves and a bell tower on a solid base. The Ermita de San Sebastián is a cube-shaped chapel from the 17th century, built of bricks and rammed earth.
