Sobradillo is located in the Arribes del Duero Nature Park. Along the Águeda River, the town shares a rugged border with Portugal. In the area around Sobradillo, the Águeda and Duero form deep gorges.
Nature
The Camino del Mirador de El Molinillo begins in Sobradillo and is a six-kilometre round trip with 115 metres of elevation gain. The route offers expansive views over the Arribes of the Águeda, as well as opportunities to observe vultures in flight at close range. In addition, Sobradillo has a network of local hiking trails marked in the terrain.
Five well-signposted routes start at the Centro BTT de Sobradillo, covering a total of just over 100 kilometres. They connect the town with San Felices de los Gallegos, Ahigal de los Aceiteros and La Redonda. The short round trip and the considerably more extensive network of routes offer different scales for planning a day out.
The Casa del Parque de Arribes del Duero presents the natural and river landscape on a tour, from the gorges of the Duero and its tributaries to the plateau. The visit includes viewpoints on the battlements and a screening room in the adjacent building.
Landscape
One of the prominent sites is the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús at Sierro de la Horca. At 696 metres above sea level, it is one of the highest points in Sobradillo and offers a view over the town. In the surrounding area, griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures can also be observed in flight.
Culture
The parish church of Santiago Apóstol was built in the 16th century and extended and remodelled over the following two centuries. The Crucero Mayor is a late Romanesque monument from the 12th century that showed pilgrims the right way and served as a resting place. The Ermita del Cristo de la Cuesta was built at the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century.
Santa Marina La Seca was a 16th-century Franciscan monastery in Sobradillo. The Barrio Judío is associated with the characteristic small windows of the Sobrados there, while the Barrio de los Boiles is one of the areas typical of Sobradillo. Sobradillo is also home to a valuable Baroque altarpiece from the 16th century dedicated to the Virgen del Rosario.

History
Only the keep of Sobradillo Castle remains today. Between 1470 and 1480, Sobradillo was fortified by descendants of Gonzalo Rodríguez de Ledesma. From the 12th century until a few decades ago, the town was a meeting and transit point for Portuguese pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela via the Vía de la Plata.
The façade of the former hospital or hospice in Sobradillo served as a resting place for pilgrims. At Prado Toro on the Arroyo Margaz, there is a Neolithic settlement; at La Comenera, burial remains from Roman times have been preserved. La Capachera was a celebration held on the eve of the Immaculate Conception, during which the capachos used in the olive harvest were thrown from the church tower and a large fire was lit.
