El Pino de Tormes between River, Dehesa and History

The Renaissance church Iglesia Parroquial de San Lorenzo is the most important architectural and cultural monument in El Pino de Tormes. The church still contains a fully sculpted representation of Saint Lawrence. An inventory of the church's liturgical objects and valuables from 1670 has been preserved. Consolidation work was carried out at the Iglesia de San Lorenzo in 1832 after it had been at risk of collapse.

Landscape along the Tormes

The dehesa is the characteristic landscape of El Pino de Tormes. Between the village and the Tormes River lies a small-scale landscape with hedges and gardens. The river runs directly along the walls of El Pino de Tormes. The village is regarded as pleasant, close to the river, shaped by horticulture and secluded. The surrounding area contains evidence of human settlement since the Bronze Age. Several pottery fragments were discovered between El Pino de Tormes and the Tormes River. Historically, the most important local festival was dedicated to Saint Lawrence, the patron saint of the village, and was celebrated on 10 August. For the Matanza 2026, the municipality of El Pino de Tormes published a programme for 14 to 16 February 2026. A second Castañada was announced as a family tradition. During the 2026 Whitsun celebrations, paella was scheduled for Saturday; caldereta and paella were also announced at festivals in El Pino de Tormes.
