Moaña: Coast, River Trails and Culture

Praia do Con is an easily accessible urban beach in the parish of Tirán and is approximately 150 metres long.

The calm coastal waters at the Domaio marina are suitable for traíña regattas and various water sports.

This means that two clearly identified attractions stand side by side along the coast: the urban beach in Tirán, with its manageable length, and the Domaio marina, whose waters are shaped by regattas and water sports.

Trails and landscape

The Ruta do Río da Fraga is 6 kilometres long and has a medium level of difficulty. It starts at Praia da Xunqueira and runs parallel to the riverbank along its entire route. Along the way, visitors can explore restored mills; the Miradoiro da Fraga and waterfalls can also be reached via options or side paths.

The Sendeiro de Rial da Arca is a linear route approximately 2.4 kilometres long with a low level of difficulty. It follows the course of the Rial da Arca stream between the Igrexa do Carme in the centre of Moaña and the PO-313 road between Marín and Moaña in Sanchelán.

Its linear layout therefore connects a starting area and an endpoint, both of which are clearly identified. The stream remains the connecting landscape feature between the church of do Carme in the centre and the PO-313 road in Sanchelán.

The Ruta do Río da Freixa e da Miñouba is approximately 7 kilometres long, moderately difficult and runs through the parish of Domaio. Its first section begins at Praia do Almacén and leads through the Ensenada do Mouro, a special conservation area within the Natura 2000 network. Many waterbird species are found in this area.

Here, the route moves from the area of Praia do Almacén into the Ensenada do Mouro. Its classification as a special conservation area within the Natura 2000 network and the presence of many waterbird species give this section a clearly defined natural character in addition to its length and level of difficulty.

Culture and history

The Igrexa de San Xoán de Tirán is one of the few examples of Romanesque art near the sea in the province of Pontevedra. The Museo das Carreiras is an open-air museum dedicated to the thread-making industry.

Thus, two different cultural references come together in Tirán: the Romanesque art of the church near the sea and the industrial history presented at the Museo das Carreiras in the open air.
