Meaño has a rural landscape with fertile farmland, including vineyards with Albariño grapes. Every July, Meaño hosts the Encontro de Viños de Autor. The event celebrates Albariño wines.

Meaño therefore combines a landscape of cultivated land with an annual event centred on the local wine. July is also the month when the Festa dos Muíños takes place at the Muíños de Lores–Simes.

Culture

On the ground floor of the Museo da Muller Labrega, the museum shows documentaries about the work of women farmers. The Museo da Muller Labrega also houses Meaño’s tourist information office.

The museum thus brings together two different points of interest under one roof: the documentaries focus on the work of women farmers, while the tourist information office is located in the same building.

The Telleira de Seixiños preserves its original kiln. It is located in Pedras Negras–Praia de Seixiños in Dena (Meaño) and is integrated into the Umia–O Grove intertidal complex.

The Museo da Salgadeira de Moreiras is also located near Meaño. The cultural surroundings also include the Museo Etnografico del Vino and the Pazos dos Ulloa and Pazo de Fefiñáns palaces.

Nature and trails

The Ruta dos Muíños is associated with the restored banks of the Chanca River, as well as the mills and pontellas located there. The guided Ruta dos Muíños climbs up to the Mirador da Barriera in the parish of Simes.

The route connects the banks of the Chanca with mills and pontellas and continues as a guided excursion to the Mirador da Barriera. The trail therefore extends from the restored riverbanks to a viewpoint in the parish of Simes.

The Mirador de Simes is located at a site where a medieval fortress played an important role in the defence of the Galician coast. The Mirador de A Pastora viewpoint is located near Meaño.

The viewpoints differ in their respective locations: the Mirador da Barriera is in the parish of Simes, the Mirador de Simes commemorates the medieval fortress, and the Mirador de A Pastora is located near Meaño.

The beaches of Panadeira, Lavapanos and Playa del Silgar are located near Meaño.

Thus, in addition to the viewpoints, the surrounding area includes three named beaches: Panadeira, Lavapanos and Playa del Silgar.

Festivals

The Festa dos Muíños takes place on the last Sunday in July at the Muíños de Lores–Simes. The Festa da bicicleta takes place on the first weekend in September.

The festival calendar is therefore spread across two different dates: the Festa dos Muíños is held on the last Sunday in July, while the Festa da bicicleta takes place on the first weekend in September.

Surrounding area

The Museo Etnografico del Vino is located near Meaño. The Pazos dos Ulloa palace and the Pazo de Fefiñáns palace are located in the same area.
