Hiking

The Ruta de Bordóns begins in Simes. The trail climbs along the right bank of the Chanca River. The Ruta de Bordóns is listed as 14.3 km long, with a duration of 1 hour 40 minutes. On the descent, there is a rest area beside restored mills on the Rego de Fofán. The Muíños de Sta. María de Simes are among the stops on the PR-G 172 Ruta do Río Chanca. The trail length and stated duration provide specific information for planning your own day.

The route description thus connects several clearly named sections: the start in Simes, the ascent along the right bank of the Chanca, and the descent in the area of the restored mills on the Rego de Fofán. The rest area is located there beside the mills and is named as part of this route section. María de Simes also appear as stops on the PR-G 172 Ruta do Río Chanca; the mill area is therefore connected to more than one named route.

Culture

The Igrexa de Santa María de Simes is located in the parish of Simes (Santa María). It is situated at A Igrexa, 36969 Meaño, Pontevedra. The church is part of the Ruta del Mar de Arousa y Ulla route of the Way of Saint James. The Festa dos Muíños takes place at the Muíños de Lores–Simes.

The church, the Way of Saint James, and the mill festival are independent, named local references. The Igrexa de Santa María de Simes is geographically identified through the parish and the place of A Igrexa, while its inclusion in the Ruta del Mar de Arousa y Ulla establishes an additional connection. The Festa dos Muíños is located at the Muíños de Lores–Simes.

Views

The Mirador da Barreira o de Simes is part of Meaño’s route of four viewpoints. It is located above the town center of Simes, near the parish church of Santa María. From the Mirador da Barreira o de Simes, the view extends across the Lores Valley, O Grove, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Another viewpoint is the Mirador de San Cibrán. From there, the view reaches A Lanzada, O Grove, and Cambados. The islands of Arousa and A Toxa are also among the named destinations visible from the viewpoint.

Thus, two viewpoints with different views are named. The Mirador da Barreira o de Simes is associated with Meaño’s route of four viewpoints and with the town center of Simes. The Mirador de San Cibrán offers views of A Lanzada, O Grove, Cambados, and the islands of Arousa and A Toxa.
