On the Río Anllóns, the Refuxio de Verdes combines water, stone and woodland in a riverside landscape. A short path at the Refuxio de Verdes is approximately 500 metres long and runs along the right bank of the Anllóns River from the Muíño de Pose to the Sangueiroas. The watercourse, riverbank and the two named waypoints are directly connected along this section.
Other places on the same level are Pardaces de Arriba, Castrelo, Dodro, Ferrol, A Coruña, Ribeira, Caión and Fosado.
Nature
The Refuxio de Verdes fishing area is located in the Río Anllóns ZEC area. The Refuxio includes a recreational area with benches, tables and barbecue facilities. The Verdes fishing area on the Anllóns River stretches for 7.2 kilometres between the Presa do Muíño do Reigoso and A Ponte Nova da Pontedona. The Anllóns is therefore both the river setting of the Refuxio and the course of the Verdes fishing area. The riverside landscape thus includes the path along the Refuxio, the recreational area and the longer fishing area.
Trails
Two extensions continue from the Refuxio de Verdes: the path extends for another kilometre to Ponte Dona, which connects Coristanco and Ponteceso; the distance to Ponteceso is approximately 14 kilometres. The Ruta dos muíños de Verdes is the hiking trail where the Verdes waterfalls can be seen. Access to the waterfalls from the Verdes fishing refuge is easy and signposted. The trails therefore provide both a connection between two municipalities and access to a waterfall destination. The extensions continue from the Refuxio as the starting point, while access to the waterfalls is from the fishing refuge. For hiking trails, length and route are among the usual planning considerations; for a planned extension, the current trail conditions on the day of travel should also be checked. On signposted waterfall trails, checking the current signage is part of the preparation.
Culture
The Refuxio de Verdes recreational area was established in 1982, after the Instituto Nacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (ICONA) had acquired and restored several mills. The mills were subsequently used as accommodation for river-fishing enthusiasts. The mills are therefore directly connected with the history of the recreational area's creation and its relationship with river fishing.
The Igrexa de Verdes preserves an image of its patron saint, San Adrián, attributed to Antonio de Meis. The parish cross of the Igrexa de Verdes dates from the final years of the 17th century and is made of fine silver sheet on a wooden support. The Igrexa de Verdes therefore brings together two sacred objects with different provenances: the image is attributed to Antonio de Meis, while the parish cross is characterised by its dating to the final years of the 17th century and by its silver sheet and wood. When visiting churches, current opening hours can be checked in advance if access is subject to specific times.
