Robledillo de Gata: Historic Ensemble, Trails and Wine Tradition

Culture and Architecture

The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is a 16th-century building with a rectangular floor plan, a single nave divided into four sections, a wooden roof with two sloping planes and a Mudejar roof structure in the sacristy. Beneath the altar of the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is a movable Baroque reclining Christ from the school of Gregorio Fernández.

The traditional architecture of Robledillo de Gata uses slate, clay and varaseto made from chestnut and oak branches, plastered with clay and straw. It includes projecting Solana balconies with wooden balustrades.

Olive Oil and Wine

The Museo del Aceite “Molino del Medio” is located in a restored medieval olive mill with its original machinery and associated equipment. The visit includes a tasting of oil made from its own Manzanilla Cacereña olives.

It begins in Robledillo de Gata beside the bridge over the Río Árrago and passes directly by the Ermita del Humilladero. The natural bathing spot “El Machio” is one of the bathing areas of Robledillo de Gata.
