Discover Sant Jaume d'Enveja

Sant Jaume d'Enveja can be explored on an official circular route: the route to Els Muntells and Eucaliptus is 19.3 kilometres long and takes approximately three hours.

Cycling

Lo Passador has a cycle lane and a rest area along its 250-metre route. The Via Verda to the river mouth is 14 kilometres long and is suitable for cycling. The Camí de Sirga starts at Lo Passador and runs 8.7 kilometres to the river mouth; along the route there are rest areas and small platforms by the riverbank for fishing and observation.

Nature

The Migjorn River is suitable for canoeing because of its width, depth, low current and low boat traffic. Platja de Migjorn is suitable for kayaking. Platja del Serrallo is more than three kilometres long and can reach a width of 100 metres.

The Gola de Migjorn is one of the Ebro's former mouths and is now blocked by a sediment barrier. From Migjorn, the Finca del Violí can be reached; there, visitors can see restored wetlands and a large bird colony. The Mirador de Migjorn offers extensive views over the delta and is suitable for observing the numerous bird species that live in the delta. At Platja de Migjorn, visitors can watch the sunrise.

Culture

The Centre d’Interpretació de les Barraques del Delta presents an exhibition about the life, work and living conditions of the delta's first settlers. The centre also includes a traditionally built barraca with furniture and equipment that conveys the associated customs and history.

Lo Xalet is one of the notable buildings in the centre of Sant Jaume d'Enveja. The historic Far de Buda lighthouse fell into the sea during a storm on Christmas night in 1961.

The Festa de la Plantada takes place at the Arrossar Interactiu on the banks of the river in Sant Jaume d'Enveja; it includes a rowing demonstration and Jota workshops. Somriu, the festival commemorating the anniversary of Lo Passador, has been celebrated every year since 2010 over a weekend with numerous activities and market stalls.

Equidelta offers activities with ponies. The programme includes a horse ride through rice fields to Mas Illa de Riu, followed by a return towards Sant Jaume via the Paseo Fluvial.

Food and drink

Local restaurants in Sant Jaume d'Enveja offer Delta-style breakfasts with baldana, eel in sauce and prawn omelettes.

The Sant Jaume d'Enveja weekly market takes place on Fridays. Regular bus services connect Sant Jaume d'Enveja with surrounding towns, L'Aldea railway station and Barcelona.
