Culture and Local History

Les voltes de Cal Baró are part of the oldest settlement area of Masllorenç and show signs of a fortified settlement centre. Some authors date its origins to the late Middle Ages. The Church of Sant Ramon de Penyafort is an example of Catalan Neoclassical Baroque, with a Latin cross floor plan and a barrel vault. The bell tower was built in 1855 and is crowned by an iron angel named “Llorenç”.

The dry-stone route in Masllorenç includes 14 very well-preserved dry-stone huts. It runs through vineyards and approaches Turó de Masnou. The route also includes shelters built against walls, whose interiors can accommodate a considerable number of people. Various forms of dry-stone architecture therefore stand side by side along the route: freestanding huts and shelters integrated into walls. The route connects these structural elements with the vineyard landscape and Turó de Masnou.
