L'eucaliptus: Beach, lagoons and nature in the Ebro Delta

L'eucaliptus: Platja dels Eucaliptus is almost 5 kilometres long—4,635.5 metres, to be precise—and 413.13 metres wide. It forms part of the Delta de l'Ebre Natural Park. For planning purposes, the coast, nature observation, cycling route and landscape history can be considered as separate focuses.

Coast

As a relatively well-preserved coastal area, Platja dels Eucaliptus has characteristic, highly specialised flora and fauna. Nature

The La Tancada lagoon has the highest salinity regime of all the lagoons in the Ebro Delta. A cycle path circles the lagoon; the various small bridges provide excellent vantage points for birdwatching. Between La Tancada and Els Eucaliptus beach lie Els Erms de la Tancada, an area of salt marshes, shrub-covered pastures and canals that is ideal for migratory birds in spring and autumn.

In addition to its lagoon, the Riet Vell nature reserve has a visitor hut and two observation points. The Riet Vell ornithological reserve combines organic rice cultivation with the restoration of a 61-hectare wetland.
