Els Guiamets: Pantà dels Guiamets, Trails and Culture

Els Guiamets is located in the Baix Priorat on the border with Ribera d’Ebre. The northwestern foothills of the mountains of Tivissa and Mola de Llaberia shape the municipal area. Most of the Pantà dels Guiamets lies within the municipality of Els Guiamets; the reservoir has a capacity of 10 hm³. The Riera de Capçanes drains Els Guiamets and is a tributary of the Siurana. At the Tosseta archaeological site, almost one hundred flint blades from the Upper Palaeolithic were found; this group of finds is considered one of the most significant prehistoric groups of finds in Catalonia. Wine and Local Character

The Celler Cooperatiu was founded in 1917. The cooperative winery is currently integrated into the company Unió and produces red wine, white wine and mistela. You can consider the three types of wine as a separate thematic focus alongside the historical and archaeological themes.

Trails and Excursions

The Volta a la Serra de Llaberia circular route includes the 3.5 km Capçanes–Els Guiamets section and the 5 km Els Guiamets–La Serra d'Almos section. Itinerari 3 connects Falset, El Masroig, Els Guiamets and Marçà before returning to Falset. Despite its length, Itinerari 3 is considered relatively manageable because it has no steep climbs. The two distances given for the circular route allow a direct comparison of the sections, while the sequence of destinations along Itinerari 3 can be considered separately.
