Santa Maria de Gualter gives the cultural side of La Baronia De Rialb a concrete focus. Routes

The longer of the two routes runs through the Rialb Valley and begins at the Santa Maria de Gualter Monastery. It initially heads towards Tremp, passes through the junction at El Puig and St. Cristòfol, continues via El Puig and Masia Perdigués towards Tremp, and then proceeds to Palau de Rialb and Ponts. The route is 48 km long and takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. The route along the Rialb Reservoir also begins at the Santa Maria de Gualter Monastery. It passes via kilometre 5.6 and La Torre towards Ponts and ends in Gualter. It is 30 km long and takes 1 hour. By comparison, the reservoir route is 18 km shorter and takes 45 minutes less than the route through the Rialb Valley. The two routes therefore differ in length, duration, direction and the named stops. When travelling on a route with a specified length and duration, current route conditions form part of the preparations; the specific route should be checked before departure.

Festivals

The festival calendar also includes several specific events in Gualter. The Trobada Cultural at the Santa Maria de Gualter Monastery takes place every year on the penultimate Saturday in July. The Festa del Ranxo de Gualter takes place on Shrove Tuesday. The Festa del Roser de la Cirera de Gualter takes place on the first weekend in June. The Festa del Roser de la Cirera in Gualter includes a procession through the streets; during this celebration, children wear traditional Catalan dress.
