Claverol: Romanesque Chapel, Trails and Panoramic Views

You can explore Claverol from its elevated position: the village lies on a hill. From there, it overlooks the Sant Antoni Reservoir. A viewpoint with panoramic views offers a landscape vista. Landscape and Trails

For an easy walk, the old trail between Sant Martí de Canals and Claverol passes through cultivated areas, woodland and ravines. It was restored in 2021. As a route through the landscape, it includes cultivated areas, woodland and ravines.

Culture

The parish church of Sant Cristòfol stands in Claverol. The stone building has a square bell tower. For a time, the parish church served as the parish house of Sant Josep de Calassanç.

Mare de Déu de la Serreta, also known as Mare de Déu de la Serra, is a Romanesque chapel in ruins. It lies one kilometre southeast of Claverol. The chapel preserves the layout of a single-nave building. This layout includes a semicircular apse on the east side. The masonry dates the chapel to the late 11th century.

The religious buildings represent different historical traces in the village: Sant Cristòfol survives as a stone parish church with a square bell tower, while Mare de Déu de la Serreta is preserved as a Romanesque chapel in ruins. At the chapel, the single-nave layout and the semicircular apse on the east side remain recognisable. Its location one kilometre southeast of Claverol and the dating of its masonry to the late 11th century form part of its geographical and chronological context.
