Culture and History

Castell de Roset is a medieval ruin featuring the remains of its original tower and a cistern. Santa Magdalena de Guardiolans is a 17th-century chapel that was already mentioned in the year 839. The Església Sant Joan de Vilada has been documented since the year 903; only a few walls of the original 12th-century Romanesque building remain. The present-day Església Sant Joan de Vilada was created through 17th-century renovations in the rural Baroque style and has a nave with side chapels and a bell tower.

The Cercavila Gegantera was part of the programme of the Festa d’Estiu 2026 in Vilada. In the past, patients of Dr Soler recovering from chest ailments rested at the Pins del Metge while staying in contact with nature.

Hiking Trails

The challenging Itinerari C – Canals de Sant Miquel i Església de Sant Miquel route can start either in Vilada or at Pla de la Fusta. Itinerari A – Serra de Picancel takes approximately 2 hours and 31 minutes to reach the Romanesque Església de Sant Miquel. The Pels entorns de Vilada PR-C 147 route starts at Parc dels Gronxadors de Vilada and ends at the same park. It is marked throughout with white and yellow markings; on the section before Pla de Clarà, there are also the white and red markings of the GR 241.

The two possible starting points of Itinerari C also mark two different starting locations for the same challenging route. The approximate time given for Itinerari A explicitly indicates that its duration is an estimate. For the PR-C 147, the identical starting and ending point indicates a circular route; the additional markings before Pla de Clarà identify a section associated with the GR 241.
