Tavèrnoles between the Plain and the Guilleries

Tavèrnoles lies in the eastern part of the Osona comarca, on the natural dividing line between the Plain and the Guilleries. A large part of the municipality of Tavèrnoles lies within the Guilleries-Savassona natural area.
Nature and trails
The FEEC has officially approved the short-distance hiking trail PR-217 “Camins de Verdaguer”. The PR-217 “Camins de Verdaguer” hiking trail runs through Folgueroles, Tavèrnoles and Sant Julià de Vilatorta. This hiking trail can be started at the Centre d'Informació de Tavèrnoles.
The SL-125 “Sant Feliuet de Savassona” circular hiking trail starts at the Centre d'Informació de Tavèrnoles. The Tavèrnoles–Sant Pere de Casserres route through Savassona follows the PR C-40 hiking trail and is 9 km long, with the distance referring to the outward route only. The Sant Feliuet de Savassona circular hike covers 6 km and takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The fixed orienteering course Circuit fix d'orientació in Tavèrnoles has 14 checkpoints of varying technical difficulty. The Tavèrnoles–Santa Magdalena de Conangle route has technically demanding sections for cyclists.
Culture and history
The present-day building of the Església de Sant Esteve de Tavèrnoles dates from 1070. Sant Pere de Savassona is a Romanesque single-nave building with a semicircular apse to the east. Sant Feliuet de Savassona is a pre-Romanesque monument built in the 10th and 11th centuries.
The Pedra de l'Home at Pla de Savassona is protected as a Cultural Asset of National Interest, or BCIN. The archaeological sites of Savassona provide evidence of continuous settlement in this area from the Early and Middle Neolithic through the Chalcolithic, various phases of the Bronze Age, the Iron Age and the Iberian period.
The Festa Remença includes a historical reenactment of La Presa del Castell de Savassona. Around 50 actors recreate real events that took place in Tavèrnoles at the end of the 15th century. The Festa Remença takes place in Tavèrnoles on the third weekend of October.
Information and getting there
The Centre d'Informació de Tavèrnoles has information material about the Guilleries-Savassona natural area and the permanent exhibition “Savassona, a gran escala”. The Centre d'Informació de Tavèrnoles also organizes guided tours of the village and its surroundings.
To get to Tavèrnoles, take exit 183 (Roda de Ter/Tavèrnoles), join the C-153 and turn right onto the BV-5213. A public interurban transport service connects Tavèrnoles with Vic.
Local flavours
The Fussimanya restaurant in the Guilleries is known for its homemade sausage and cold-cut platter with toasted coca torrada del mossèn.
