Trails and Landscape

Perafita provides seven GPS-based audio guides for easy walks and excursions in the surrounding area.

The routes follow an extensive network of paths and country trails to farmhouses, springs and neighbouring villages.

Precise voice instructions show the way, provide information about the landscape, vegetation and points of interest, and warn you if you leave the route.

The “Voltants de Perafita” route offers views of Montserrat, Pedraforca and the eastern Pyrenees.

The Perafita–Santa Margarida route is suitable for everyone and passes through a landscape shaped by agriculture and forestry.

It passes the Masia de la Tria farmhouse before reaching the Ermita de Santa Margarida de Vilaltella.

The Perafita–El Santuari dels Munts route passes through a landscape shaped by agriculture and livestock farming, with scattered farmhouses and small forests.

Nature

La Ramada Encantada is a large, elevated rocky area on Perafita’s northern municipal boundary, directly adjoining the municipalities of Lluçà and Sant Agustí de Lluçanès.

The rocky area lies below the BV-4341 road and along the Serrat de les Cabrasses ridge.

Distinctive rock formations rounded by erosion are associated with a local legend from which the name La Ramada Encantada is derived.

Culture and History

In the centre of Perafita stands the Església de Sant Pere, with a single-nave church and an octagonal bell tower.

Its parish function was first documented in 1121.

The “Voltants de Perafita” route passes the town’s notable cultural heritage sites: the parish church, Castell de Perafita, Carrer Major and several springs.

Castell de Perafita is a castle built in the modern period with numerous neo-Gothic elements.

These elements give it the appearance of a Central European château or castle.

The site of Castell de Perafita was formerly occupied by Mas Puig.

The former Mas Puig has been extensively documented since the 13th century.

Carrer Major is the longest street in Perafita, apart from the BP-4653, which is called Passeig de Sant Agustí in the town centre.

It runs from the southern end of the town centre to Plaça Major and is mostly lined on both sides with houses built of natural stone.

The Monòlit de Jaume Puig commemorates Jaume Puig i Beuló from Perafita, who was actively involved in the events at the beginning of the 18th century that led to the War of the Spanish Succession.

In 1396, the Sotsvegueria del Lluçanès was created; Perafita was one of its two capitals.

This administrative role encouraged the town’s growth through the settlement of weavers and other craftspeople.

Traditions

L’Agrobotiga del Lluçanès in the centre of Perafita mainly sells and offers tastings of bread and Coques de Perafita.

Perafita’s tourism calendar lists the festivities and the Candelera fair (Fira de la Candelera) for the first Sunday in February.

Perafita’s tourism calendar lists the Caramelles de Pascua in March or April, which are considered traditional Catalan songs.

Perafita’s tourism calendar lists the Caminata Perafita–Els Munts for the first Saturday in September.
