Culture
The walls of La Llacuna were built in the 13th and 14th centuries with four gates and several towers. A tour of the former walls of La Llacuna leads to the old gates, the towers that defended the town, and the old town centre with La Plaça Major, an outstanding arcaded square at the far end of which stands the church of Santa Maria.
The present-day settlement of La Llacuna probably developed around the Priorat de Santa Maria. The first mention of Castell de Vilademàger dates from 987. The first documented mention of the church of Sant Pere de Màger dates from 1160. In 1160, the Cistercian monks moved from Valldaura to l'Espluga d'Ancosa.
The “Exposició de materials arqueològics” is located on the third floor of the Centre de Desenvolupament Cultural i Turístic de la Llacuna at C/ Major, 4. The small archaeological exhibition explains the development of human life in the La Llacuna area over several millennia.
The Fortí del Castellar is a fortified settlement covering just over 3,000 m² on a small rise in the Serra d'Ancosa, more than 904 m above sea level. Archaeological investigations date Fortí del Castellar to the late Iberian period, between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC. The site occupied a strategic position and provided visual control over the surrounding area.
Nature
The municipal area of La Llacuna is mostly covered by pine, oak and holm-oak forests. More than thirty springs are scattered throughout the municipality.

The Puig Castellar Ancosa hiking route runs from La Llacuna via Salt del Gos and Coll del Corral to Puig Castellar, returning via Font de les Clotes. The Castell de Vilademàger–Font del Pla Novell hiking route connects La Llacuna with Castell de Vilademàger, Font dels Horts and Font del Pla Novell.
The “Volta pel pla de La Llacuna” mountain-biking route is 9 kilometres long, has 420 m of cumulative elevation gain, takes one hour and is classified as easy. It starts and finishes at Plaça Major.
