The Masia Museu (Ca l'Albareda) is a former prominent farmhouse in Pallejà and was built in 1615 by the Albareda de Dalt family.

Culture and History

If you are interested in specific evidence of agricultural work, the museum displays a grape press, the scales of the former Pallejà agricultural cooperative and two medium-capacity barrels.

The collection includes archaeological finds from the Neolithic period through to Roman rule in the region.

Castell de Pallejà was built on the site of a medieval castle. Ramon Martí de Torrelles and Fiveller de Palau built it in 1590.

The tourist route “Els Enigmes de Pallejà” uses QR codes and puzzles to present the town’s architectural and historical heritage.

The townscape therefore brings together various historical points of reference: the former farmhouse from 1615, the collection of finds dating from the Neolithic period to Roman rule, and Castell de Pallejà from 1590. The “Els Enigmes de Pallejà” route highlights this architectural and historical heritage through QR codes and puzzles.

Carnestoltes in Pallejà features a programme of events. It runs from Dijous Gras to Dimecres de Cendra.

The events mentioned are thus spread across different periods of the year: the Carnestoltes programme takes place between Dijous Gras and Dimecres de Cendra, the Festa Major d’Hivern falls around 12 February, and the Mercat de pagès takes place in September.

Nature and Landscape

The Riera de les Rovires is the only stream in the municipality of Pallejà. It carries water almost all the time and is not canalised along any part of its course. Its presence allows several plant communities to coexist and supports significant biodiversity among the animal species.

Margalló (Chamaerops humilis) grows in Les Planes. It is the only palm native to Europe and thrives in dry coastal regions of the western Mediterranean.

The landscape therefore includes both the course of the Riera de les Rovires and the occurrence of Margalló in Les Planes. For the Riera de les Rovires, it is stated that water is present almost all the time and that it is not canalised anywhere along its entire course; at the same time, it supports several plant communities and significant biodiversity among the animal species.

In the case of Margalló, the Catalan name and the scientific designation refer to the same plant: Chamaerops humilis can be found in Les Planes, is considered the only palm native to Europe, and grows in dry coastal regions of the western Mediterranean.
