Nature and Trails

Sant Antoni de Vilamajor has an extensive network of routes suitable for walks and bike rides for all age groups and different paces.

The Ruta de les Ermites is 11.81 kilometres long and takes four to five hours on foot. It is signposted with white-and-yellow markings and connects rural areas with more urban environments.

The Ruta de l'Aigua is a linear walking route through the Freixeneda neighbourhood. It focuses on the cultural, water-management and natural heritage associated with the streams and the continued agricultural activity. The route is 4.25 kilometres long and takes one hour and 15 minutes on foot.

The Ruta de les Masies is a circular route along well-preserved traditional paths and passes farmhouses of architectural and historical value. It is 8.7 kilometres long and takes 2 hours and 40 minutes to walk.

The Ruta llevantina dels arbres runs through the el Pla neighbourhood and showcases some distinctive trees and tree species representative of the Mediterranean region. It is 8.7 kilometres long and takes 2 hours and 40 minutes on foot.

The Camí Ral begins at Plaça de la Vila and follows the Riera de Vilamajor. It is considered easy to walk and offers benches for resting and a drinking fountain.

Culture and History

The present-day Ermita de Sant Jaume de Rifà is a Romanesque building from the late 12th century. Part of its vault was renewed in the 18th century.

The church of Sant Julià d'Alfou was consecrated on 1 December 1142.

Can Perpunter is a typical 17th-century Catalan farmhouse. In this building, the roof ridge runs parallel to the main façade; this feature is typical of some 17th-century farmhouses.

The Antic safareig – Espai Francesc Bardera is a former public washhouse that has been restored as a monument.

The linear route “Vilamajor en temps de República” passes through impressive natural landscapes. It brings to life the surviving architectural and historical traces from the proclamation of the Republic to the end of the Civil War.

The Festa Major d'Hivern is celebrated in Sant Antoni de Vilamajor around the feast day of Saint Anthony the Abbot in January.
