Discover Montseny: Pilgrimages, Trails and the Tordera
On the Monday after Whit Monday, Montseny holds the Vot de Poble, an annual pilgrimage to Sant Marçal. The procession starts at Font Bona, leads to the hermitage and includes a mass as well as the renewal of the vow.
Culture
The Casal de Cultura in Montseny houses the permanent exhibition Les Esquelles d'en Jaume, with almost 1,000 bells. Jaume Traveria and Montserrat Garriga collected the bells over the course of their lives and donated them to the municipality of Montseny. Sant Martí de Montseny is a 17th-century hermitage.
Sant Julià del Montseny is a church of Romanesque origin in the town centre. It includes the preserved bell tower and part of a wall from the original building. Sant Marçal de Montseny is an 11th-century church that was extended in the 12th century. Sant Marçal was a Benedictine monastery and has been documented since 1053.
The Aplec de Sant Martí takes place every year on the Sunday closest to 11 November. The occasion includes a solemn service in the hermitage, the singing of Goigs and a communal meal, usually consisting of a rice dish. The Estela de la Calma is also known as Estela de la Sitja del Llop and has been classified by the Generalitat de Catalunya as a movable cultural asset of national interest.
The Fira de les Esquelles celebrates professions connected with sheep farming and includes guided tours of Les Esquelles d'en Jaume. The official Itinerari turístic de Montseny is an interactive tour that uses QR codes on the municipality's route signage.
Hiking
The hike from Montseny to Font Ferrussa reaches the spring in about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace and can be extended to approximately one hour. The Font Ferrussa route offers panoramic views of Turó de l'Home, the lower part of the Tordera Valley and Serra del Corredor.
The hike from Plaça de la Vila de Montseny to Sant Martí de Montseny follows the old royal road to the hermitage. The hike to Sant Martí de Montseny is considered moderately difficult, is just over 4 kilometres long and takes approximately one and a half hours at a leisurely pace. The route follows the GR-5 and also coincides with the Tourdera along one section.
Nature
Sant Marçal lies at an altitude of 1,093 metres between Les Agudes and Matagalls, near Font Bona, the symbolic source of the Tordera. Gorg de l'Home is an elongated pool in the Tordera River, bordered by large, vertically descending rock formations.
The upper course of the Tordera runs from its source through the municipality of Montseny and flows past the town centre. Gorg de les Dones d'Aigua is an elongated pool with a considerable waterfall, shade-providing riverside vegetation and large, vertically descending rock formations.

La Cort Montseny sells and offers tastings of products from its own harvest, including jams, preserves, chutneys and quince products. The Bus-Parc line 576 connects Santa Maria de Palautordera with Montseny.
The Punt d'Informació de Montseny organises visits to the exhibition and museum by prior request. A small path leads to Font de Sant Martí after the Sant Martí bend, branching off from a straight stretch of road.
