Circular Routes

L'Ametlla del Vallès can be explored via five signposted circular routes. They allow visitors to experience the surrounding area while also discovering the history of the town. In this way, the routes combine the landscape and local history in a single walk. Before setting out on a circular route, check the current trail conditions.

Culture and Architectural Heritage

The Centre d’Interpretació del Territori de l’Ametlla del Vallès (CITA) promotes knowledge and appreciation of the history, culture, traditions, historical memory, flora and fauna of L'Ametlla del Vallès. It is located in the restored former chapel of Can Camp. When visiting the CITA, check the current opening hours.

The Museu de la Carta postal de l’Estat de l’Ametlla del Vallès, which is accessible online, comprises more than 7,000 postcards from the Cercle Cartòfil de Catalunya.

Cal Barber, also known as casa Jaume Alern, was architect Joaquim Raspall i Mayol’s first work in L'Ametlla del Vallès, created in 1904. It was built for Jaume Alerm i Monrós as a barber shop and features Modernista stained-glass windows bearing the name of the house.

The central part of the Ajuntament i escoles originally housed the municipal administration, while the two side wings contained separate public schools for boys and girls. The former layout therefore combined administration and two separate educational uses in a single building complex.

Traditions

History

A visit to Serrat de l'Ocata and Ermita de Sant Bartomeu de Montràs conveys what life was like in the mid-mountain areas before today’s extensive urbanisation. The historical context focuses on the period before today’s urbanisation.

One walking route leads to the most important farmhouses of L'Ametlla del Vallès and explores the history of agriculture, which has had a particularly strong influence on the area.

Another walking route conveys the living conditions of many refugees from the Spanish Civil War who found shelter in the local farmhouses.

Surrounding Area

Three museums are located in the area around L'Ametlla del Vallès: the Museu de Granollers, the Museu Arxiu Tomàs Balvey and the Museu de Montmeló.

The ruins of Ermita de Sant Miquel de l'Arn are also located nearby.

The summit of Puig Fred, Montcau mountain, the summit of Turó de Céllecs and the summit of Turó de Can Tarascó are also located in the area around L'Ametlla del Vallès.
