The Igualada Cemetery Park is a historic monument and is recognised as a “Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional”. It was designed by architects Enric Miralles and Carme Pinós.

Culture

The Museu de la Pell d’Igualada is located in the centre of Igualada’s Rec district. The museum is 400 metres from the city centre. Free parking is available 200 metres away, at the junction of Carrer Sant Faust and Carrer del Rec.

The Museu de la Pell organises visits to the Gasogen de Cal Pasqual. It is the only surviving example in Catalonia and probably also in Europe.

Cal Granotes is considered to be a 17th-century tannery in the heart of the Rec district. There, the traditional craft of leather tanning is presented in a staged setting. New tanneries were built on the banks of the Rec d’Igualada from the late 18th century onwards.

The Museu del Traginer – Col·lecció Antoni Ros explains the development of transport using animal power. It shows the connections between the various occupations involved in carting and pack-animal transport.

Architecture

La Igualadina Cotonera is also known as Vapor Vell and Cal Godó. It is a textile steam factory built in 1841 and the oldest surviving Manchester-style factory in Catalonia.

In Igualada’s El Rec district, La Igualadina Cotonera is the only building recognised as a “Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional”. The three names La Igualadina Cotonera, Vapor Vell and Cal Godó refer to this building and form part of its traditional name.

Traditions

The Festa de Reis has been celebrated in Igualada since 1895. It is recognised as a “Festa Popular d’Interès Cultural”.

The tradition of Sant Antoni i els Tres Tombs in Igualada dates back to 1822. It is recognised as a “Festa Tradicional d’Interès Nacional”.

Trails

The Anella Verda is a circular route that surrounds Igualada and connects various natural, agricultural and landscape areas in the immediate surroundings.

The route is more than 13 kilometres long and offers views of Igualada and its surroundings. It connects with the Camí de Sant Jaume, the Via Blava and the Camí Ignasià.

The Via Blava Anoia follows the course of the Anoia River from its source near Jorba to its confluence with the Llobregat at Martorell.

It offers a peaceful and accessible way to discover river landscapes, natural areas and historic cultural heritage.
