Culture

In the historic centre of Corbera de Llobregat, the character of an era more than five hundred years old has been preserved, as has the form of life in a feudal town.

Castell de Corbera preserves sections of wall, a tower with a circular floor plan and a forecourt. These elements are incorporated into the walls and terraces of the gardens of the parish church of Santa Maria de Corbera and Casal de Santa Magdalena.

The church of Santa Maria de Corbera has a Renaissance altarpiece dedicated to the Virgin Mary del Roser, dating from the late 16th century. The altarpiece depicts scenes from the life of Jesus.

Antic Monestir de Sant Ponç in Baix Llobregat is an example of Lombard Romanesque architecture founded in the 11th century and was part of a network of Benedictine monasteries with religious, agricultural and territorial control functions.

Events

The Mercat Medieval takes place over a weekend in July in the historic centre of Corbera de Llobregat and coincides with the Festa Major de Santa Magdalena.

It includes craft stalls demonstrating how work was carried out in medieval guilds. Other features include food stalls, entertainment and magic shows, games, an Arab tent and a tavern.

Performances

Corbera de Llobregat offers theatrical routes throughout the year that convey its feudal history through immersive storytelling. Every two months, characters such as the nun, the innkeeper and the Baron of Corbera appear.

The Pessebre Vivent de Catalunya in Corbera de Llobregat has presented live, moving scenes along a circular route in a natural setting since 1962. Music, Christmas carols, storytelling and lighting accompany these scenes; the performers wear clothing influenced by Hebrew and Catalan traditions.

Trails

Sender de Corbera is an urban circular walking route through the historic centre.

The trails around Corbera pass through forests of holm oaks, oaks and Aleppo pines, as well as by farmhouses, springs, dry-stone huts, old trade routes, lime and gypsum kilns and chapels.

The Rutes d'herbes Silvestres provide information on identifying edible and medicinal wild plants and their culinary and traditional uses, for example in infusions, flavoured oils, batter or artisanal preparations.

The Eix de Ponent Interior branches off from the hiking and cycling network in the municipality of Corbera de Llobregat; the available routes can be chosen for walking or cycling.

A challenging circular route passes over the prominent peaks of Aragall, Roca Foradada, Forellac, Puig d'Agulles and Montmany. It includes technical sections and spectacular views and is suitable for experienced hikers.
