Landscape and Trails

Baix Llobregat combines a coastline with fine-sand beaches and a mountain landscape shaped by Montserrat and Garraf. The Llobregat Delta is noted for its ecological richness. Les Muntanyes del Baix cover more than 120 km², including more than 10,000 hectares of woodland. The Roca Foradada route leads to a 642 m-high viewpoint overlooking the Vall de Corbera, the Baix Llobregat plain and the sea.

Trail Network and Active Experiences

The trail network is divided into three parallel axes connecting the towns of the comarca and extending to Barcelona and the beaches of the Llobregat Delta: the Llobregat River axis, as well as the western and eastern axes. The western axis, Eje de Poniente, covers 80 km and is complemented by more than 90 km of alternative routes and connecting trails. In Corbera de Llobregat, the Eje de Poniente divides and continues as the Eje de Poniente Interior to the beaches of Castelldefels, Gavà and Viladecans. From Martorell, the Eje del Río offers a broad, gently sloping and flat trail on both sides of the river, suitable for walking and cycling. The trail network consists of signposted paths where visitors can discover the natural and cultural heritage of the comarca. The tourism office of Corbera de Llobregat has put together eight self-guided routes through the town and its surroundings. Held annually in January in Corbera de Llobregat, the Cinc Cims mountain race covers 27.6 km and includes 1,325 metres of ascent.

Culture and History

The former Sant Ponç monastery is an example of Lombard Romanesque architecture in Baix Llobregat, founded in the 11th century, and belonged to a network of Benedictine monasteries with religious, agricultural and territorial control functions. The church of Santa Maria de Corbera dates from the 13th century and stands on the summit where the castle of the Barons of Corbera once partly stood; the church and castle always belonged to the same complex. The comarca of Baix Llobregat offers visitors a significant historical Modernist heritage. Corbera de Llobregat offers guided theatrical tours about its history and heritage throughout the year, including immersive visits focusing on feudal history and three visits a year at the former Sant Ponç monastery. The Mercado del Bandolero takes place on the first Saturday in October in Corbera de Llobregat and includes traditional craft demonstrations, local cuisine and workshops. Since 1962, visitors to Corbera de Llobregat have been able to experience a tour featuring live and moving displays at the Pessebre Vivent de Catalunya.

The wild herb routes, Rutes d'herbes Silvestres, in Corbera de Llobregat teach visitors in spring and summer how to identify edible and medicinal wild plants and how they can be used in cooking.
