Ceramics and Architectural History

In Argentona, the Museu del Càntir d’Argentona has more than 4,000 exhibits. The collection spans the period from the Bronze Age to Picasso. The holdings include folk ceramics. Casa Puig i Cadafalch in Argentona is the architect’s summer house. The architect expanded it by incorporating three older residential buildings. He joined the three houses into a single building. In Argentona, the Festa del Càntir continues the tradition of the Aplec de Sant Domènec. The Aplec de Sant Domènec has been celebrated on 4 August since the 17th century. The first edition of the Festa del Càntir took place in 1951. The blessing of the water takes place on 4 August at the Font de Sant Domingo. It dates back to a religious gathering that has existed since 1636.

Argillà Argentona is a ceramics fair. It takes place in July. The visitor programme at Argillà Argentona includes demonstrations of traditional pottery. Wheel-throwing and raku workshops are also part of the programme. Concerts featuring ceramic instruments are included as well. The fair therefore includes demonstrations and workshops as well as musical events that address the theme of ceramics in different ways.

Historic Sites and Heights

The remains of Castell de Burriac lie 401 metres above sea level. These remains are visible from several locations in Maresme. The Església de Sant Sebastià lies north of the town of Argentona. Its location is on a 100-metre-high hill. Both places complement the ceramic and festival traditions with historic points of reference in the landscape of Argentona.

Routes and Natural Heritage

The “Ruta pel castell de Burriac i turons de l'entorn” route begins at the Font Picant. It is 7.44 kilometres long. The route takes approximately three hours. It has an elevation difference of 305 metres.

Senders d'Argentona is a collection of hiking trails. The trails can be used on foot. They can also be used by bicycle. They provide access to Argentona’s natural heritage. The collection also provides access to the municipality’s numerous springs. Alongside the individual route to Castell de Burriac, a broader network of trails is therefore available, connecting natural heritage and springs.
