Discover Fuensalida: Renaissance, Festivals and Wine

The Palacio de los Condes de Fuensalida combines Renaissance, Isabelline Gothic and Mudéjar traditions. It is located at the Glorieta del Ayuntamiento in Fuensalida and is now privately owned.

Culture

The Iglesia de San Juan Bautista has a single-nave layout, six side chapels and a polygonal chancel. Its tower is Gothic-Mudéjar and adds another clearly recognisable stylistic form to the town’s distinctive architectural mix.

The oldest surviving element of the Monasterio del Espíritu Santo is the Mudéjar façade on Calle Hernando Alonso, popularly known as “la Galería”. The Monasterio del Espíritu Santo was founded around 1532 by Hernando Alonso, a priest from Fuensalida.

Wine

The Bodega Cooperativa Condes de Fuensalida was founded in 1974 by 70 winegrowers. The wine produced comes mainly from vineyards in Fuensalida, as well as from vineyards in Santa Cruz del Retamar and Almorox.
