Azután’s cultural heritage includes a prehistoric dolmen that bears witness to a history spanning thousands of years. History

Azután’s local history is connected with a privilege granted by King Alfonso X on January 23, 1260, to Doña Leocadia Fernández, the abbess of the monastery of Toledo, for the founding of a settlement in an area referred to as Azoltàn or Acotán. The Mojón is a granite boundary marker bearing the Toledo double-headed eagle and the inscription “Azután”.

Culture and Townscape

Azután’s traditional town center preserves rural-style houses, whitewashed walls and other traditional elements. The monumental Pino Rollo is part of Azután’s local identity. Ceramics are among the craft traditions rooted in Azután for centuries.
